My husband is an electrician also and he swears by Red Wing boots. They can be bought for that or less and we usually don't have to replace them for about a year to a year and a half!
I USE ROCKPORT BOOTS. LIGHT, COMFORTABLE, WATERPROOF, LONG LASTING. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/accuse_write?qid=20070116144103AAktBzW&kid=OqZ1PVa7GXiC_PPMrVSi&s=comm&date=2007-01-17+17%3A53%3A17&.crumb=
You might want to look at www.hoffmanboots.com I have two pairs of them. For the price you get a really well made long lasting boot. They are also made in the USA. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/accuse_write?qid=20070116144103AAktBzW&kid=DqNXWHW8IlGX7FtkAm0Y&s=comm&date=2008-09-15+23%3A34%3A07&.crumb=
My husband wears Redwings. He usually can get 2-3 years of wear out of the lace up mid-calf boot.
I worked offshore for 17 years. Redwings are hard to beat.
If they will be exposed to the elements much, rub them down with some mink oil or other sealant/protectant before you use them.
I use "Redwing", Too.
And you can get them in sizes into 4e also.
Hope this helps,
Dave
I work construction and my vote is Timberland. I know they were designed for hiking, but they are less expensive than Red Wing. Also, since they are designed for hiking they are good for walking in all day long. Usually a pair will last me a year or more.
Red wing is the best. They go up higher on the leg. My husband works on the railroad and here in Texas he deals with alot of poisoness snakes and all they get a bite of from him is boot.
